San Juan Media, Administration and Performing Arts
San Juan Unified School District was able to convert its aging original campus into its flagship with three major construction projects led in a collaborative historic renovation effort by Clark/Sullivan. Projects included an Administration Building, Media Building with state-of-the-art technology, and Performing Arts Building.
Administration Building: The original administrative building had to be abated, removed and reconstructed with relevant technology and in keeping with a historically preserved high school campus.
Media Building: Clark/Sullivan renovated an existing historic building with state-of-the-art technology that allows students to videotape, edit and broadcast productions on campus. Design and construction followed historic guidelines.
Performing Arts Building: We renovated an existing historic building with a new performing arts theater with state-of-the-art sound and production equipment. It has the second-largest seating capacity in the community.
Student Participation during construction included:
- Having a construction technology class shadow a concrete pour
- Providing students with a seminar on green building
