San Juan High School Media, Administration, and Performing Arts
San Juan Unified School District was able to convert its aging original campus into its flagship with three major construction projects led in a collaborative historic renovation effort by Clark/Sullivan. Projects included an Administration Building, Media Building with state-of-the-art technology, and Performing Arts Building.
Administration Building: The original administrative building had to be abated, removed, and reconstructed with relevant technology and in keeping with a historically preserved high school campus.
Media Building: Clark/Sullivan renovated an existing historic building with state-of-the-art technology that allows students to videotape, edit and broadcast productions on campus. Design and construction followed historic guidelines.
Performing Arts Building: We renovated an existing historic building with a new performing arts theater with state-of-the-art sound and production equipment. It has the second-largest seating capacity in the community.
Student Participation during construction included:
- Having a construction technology class shadow a concrete pour
- Providing students with a seminar on green building
